SASKATOON

Saskatoon Summer Skating School was started over 40 years ago
and has
followed a tradition of offering quality programming for all levels
of figure skating at reasonable rates. The school offers an
excellent
coaching staff as well as a great off-ice program and fun activities.
It also has test days for all levels and is sanctioned by Skate
Canada. In the past, skaters from all across Canada, Northwest

The
Saskatoon Summer Skating School operates out of the A.C.T. Skating
Center. The center has two regulation size arenas, dressing rooms,
lockers, a concession and a hall that is used in the summer
for
off-ice program and as a lounge for skaters. There is excellent
accommodation close to the A.C.T. Center as well as to the university.
Saskatoon is a beautiful city in the province of Saskatchewan with
many attractions and activities. Come join us this year.
ACCOMMODATIONS
The ACT Skating Centre is located at 107 - 105th Street, Saskatoon, in the Sutherland area. Because the University is close by, there are many excellent accommodations available close to the rink.
Apartments -
There are apartment buildings behind the rink, where suites may be
rented for one or two months, some even on a weekly basis. Many
skaters get together to rent one-bedroom or two-bedroom apartments:
Geneva I - V 374-4333
Trailer Parks & Campgrounds - Gordon Howe Campground - Avenue P South (975-3328)
Travel Inn Resort & Campground - 3.2 miles south on Highway 11 (373-6806)
Saskatoon 16 West Campground - 1 mile NW of Credit Union Centre (931-8905) (1-800-478-7833)
Possible Room & Board - The summer school is actively seeking suitable room and board as well as apartments close to the A.C.T. If you have a problem with finding a place for the summer please contact the school either by phone or email. We will make every effort to find accommodation to fit your needs.
Other possible accommodations may be found in the StarPhoenix newspaper at 652-9200 (www.TheStarPhoenix.com) or through the U of S Housing Registry at 966-6960 (www.usask.ca/ussu/). In previous years skaters and their families have stayed for one or two weeks at various Saskatoon hotels. Some hotels have very reasonable weekly rates.
